Yes!! Spaced isn't coming to America!

Mon May 12, 2008, 8:33 AM
Peter got me into a little cult classic British show called Spaced awhile back. It comes from the masterminds Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg, the guys behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

So lame ass director McG, best known for his Charlies Angels films, was trying to bring the show to the states, much like BJ Novac and Greg Daniels did with The Office.

After seeing the pilot episode whatever station attempting to back it turned it down. Probably because it didn't have Simon Pegg or Nick Frost in it, and also, probably because the backers had seen one of McG's movies and decided he was lame.

And the title of this entry isn't completely true, because, Spaced is still coming to America. The original version comes to DVD here in July, go buy it.

The Charlie's Angels movies make me throw up in my mouth a little whenever I think of them. Horrible.

Spaced is awsome, because of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. And wouldnt work in an americanised version. The Office was ok, but it was a bit more shticky(sp?) than the british version, so its completely different.

Ever seen the US version of Red Dwarf? XD

Wright and Pegg werent even consulted about a us version, because they signed away certain rights when they sold the show. I guess they were just neive and inexperience when they made those deals.

Anyway, im really happy to hear america isnt getting a crappy version of it =)

You're lucky man, you're in the UK and you get to expirience all these great shows first hand.

We get all the leftovers on BBC America and that consists of Coupling and a ton of reality shows.

You got any good shows in North Ireland?

I didn't even know there was an American version of Red Dwarf. I bet it was dreadful.

Glad to hear that. I've been trying to track down that show on DVD for a while.

Also, how 'bout United on Sunday! Exciting but nerve-racking up until Giggs' goal and Bolton's equalizer.

...and the Reds go marching on! on! on!

I didn't get to see the game but as soon as it was over I checked the web for the score. And thank God Chelsea only tied.

Now we just got to beat 'em in Moscow.
